Pet Bed Project

Don't forget to collect any small scraps from your cutting table.  Use them to stuff pet beds for our local shelter.  Scraps of fabric can be put in an old pillow case or something you have made from your own fabric stash.  When your bed is full, sew it shut and bring it to our monthly meeting.

Pillow Case Project

Pillowcases in COTTON or FLANNEL fabrics are delivered to children at the “Safe Nest” woman’s shelter and to the Local Hospitals for the children.  The pattern is available from the charity coordinator.  Pillowcase donations are collected at the monthly guild meeting.

Quilts for Charity

Charity quilts are collected at our monthly meeting.  Quilts donated will be delivered to Hospice and the Police Department for Children in Crisis. Donations of unfinished tops, UFO blocks, fabric, and batting are also welcome.

Homeless Teenage Project AND Supplies for the Homeless in Las Vegas

Toiletry items, laundry soap, other grooming aids are collected at monthly meetings. Also nonperishable food items that can be carried in backpacks, such as fruit roll ups, pop top cans of fruit, or pudding cups are wanted.  Scarves, hats, and gloves are needed in the winter. Even gift cards for Walmart or McDonald’s are appreciated. Items go to our local schools to be distributed to young people who do not have a permanent home, but are doing their best to finish school. Items are also distributed to organizations that help the homeless in Las Vegas.

Quilts of Valor Project

We also participate in the  Quilts of Valor program for our Nevada service men and women.  You can participate by sewing blocks or sew a quilt top or volunteer to quilt a donated top.  Donations of red, white, cream, gold, blue and Patriotic fabric gladly accepted.  For more information please contact Victoria.colburnhall@QOVF.org or call 702-357-0377.

Members are always welcome to bring a new charity  opportunity to the attention of our guild members.  Please have all information available for your charity and be prepared to present it to our members and coordinate any collections or deliveries.
